What is this?
Please join OVWA, Wendy C. Regoeczi, Ph.D., MPH, Professor and Chair, Department of Criminology, Anthropology, and Sociology at Cleveland State University, Rosemary H. Creeden LISW-S, Associate Director, Trauma Services, Frontline Service, Cleveland and Ali Pillow #6134, Commander, Bureau of Special Investigations, Cleveland Division of Police for Addressing the Needs of Homicide Co-Victims in Ohio.
The homicide rates in Ohio have increased substantially over the last five years, even surpassing homicide numbers in other states. These increases have been particularly severe in Ohio's metropolitan cities. However, the current system for providing services to homicide co-victims in the aftermath of the crime must undergo changes if it is to effectively meet the needs of this group, which unfortunately grows larger by the day. This workshop will review the landmark homicide co-victim survey results conducted by the Ohio Victim Witness Association and their Collaboration Board; review statewide recommendations for improving services for homicide co-victims, and learn about the successes of Ohio's first multi-disciplinary team focused on homicides and co-victims.
This training meets the training requirements for both the Ohio Advocate Network and the National Advocate Credentialing Program. If you are in need of accommodations, please email us at info@ovwa.org no later than September 21, 2022.
