AAC - ADEPT Training Series - ADEPT Accessibility and Accommodation Training for Law Enforcement
Attendees pay for their own charges
The ADEPT Accessibility and Accommodation Training for Law Enforcement is a one- or two-day training designed by the AACs for use by law enforcement agencies when working with adults with disabilities. The training is founded on Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) best practices regarding accessibility, accommodations, trauma, victimization, and the intersectionality of individuals’ lives. The curriculum is designed to support and enhance law enforcement’s response to individuals with disabilities. We will explore real-life examples of how law enforcement can provide accommodations to this population while still performing their required duties. Finally, we will provide and discuss specific tools and strategies that can be used to support individuals with disabilities while interacting with law enforcement. Presenters will include disabled individuals with lived experience, giving participants the opportunity to discuss questions and ideas they have surrounding these topics.
