Elder abuse is a widespread problem that deprives older adults of their health, safety and security. At least 10% of older adults will experience some form of elder abuse in a given year. These rates are even higher in facility settings, and since the pandemic, abuse rates have increased.

To address this important matter, the Adult Advocacy Centers (AACs) created a two-day training to teach the skills needed to investigate allegations of abuse and neglect committed against older adults. This comprehensive training is for professionals working in the field. In addition to discussing the intersection of aging and disabilities, curriculum topic areas covered during this training include:

Gathering and examining source documentation,
Documenting victim and witness statements,
Creating a chronology,
Conducting an on-site investigation in community and facility settings,
Searching records and databases
Corroborating evidence,
Reporting and obstacles to reporting.
Information provided during this training is built upon through sample case examples, individual practice, large group discussion, question and answer sessions and trainer feedback.

Maximum Number of Attendees: 25

Pre-Requisites
Participants must be professionals who investigate abuse and neglect against older adults.

Cost for this training is $350 per person, billed via PayPal after the participant's application is approved.

These trainings are held online from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
