AAC - ADEPT Interviewing Tools & Techniques for the Disability Community
Wednesday, April 5, 2023 to Thursday, April 6, 2023
Statewide Training Events
Attendees pay for their own charges
This AACs’ ADEPT series two-day training for law enforcement covers tips and techniques for interviewing members of the disability community, with “disability” defined broadly, as it is under the ADA. This includes interviewing older adults, people who do not traditionally communicate through speech, people with mental health disabilities, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, etc.
Participants will gain an understanding of how language and perspective impact interactions with the disability community, learn about accessibility and accommodations and discuss specific interactions and case examples. They will also practice interview skills, learn about resources that are available to law enforcement and first responders and participate in a question-and-answer session to allow for group discussion and learning.
This training is for mid-level through seasoned law enforcement professionals who conduct interviews. Participants MUST have taken the AACs’ Accessibility and Accommodation Training for Law Enforcement before taking this course.
Maximum Number of Attendees: 40
Cost for this training is $550 per person, billed via PayPal after the participant's application is approved. To bring this training to your group, contact us at email@example.com.
These trainings are held online from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
