SUMMARY:ODVN - Domestic Violence Advocacy Fundamentals
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network\nJoin ODVN for this comprehensive\, foundational training series to develop core skills and enhance current knowledge of advocacy for domestic violence survivors. This virtual training series\, designed for new advocates or seasoned staff\, is comprised of four full days (20 hours) of live training and 20 hours of online pre-learning through ODVN’s eLearning Network. This updated DVAF training includes exciting new videos and participant engagement through scenarios\, break-out sessions\, and panel discussion. \nThe training is a pre-approved program through the Ohio Advocate Network (OAN) credentialing board and meets the training requirements for the Registered Advocate (RA) credential. \n***Pre-Learning Requirement: Attendance is required at all four dates. No partial credit will be given. This is a hybrid training that requires completing 20 hours of online learning prior to the 4 days of live training. \nCost: Free for ODVN Members (ODVN Member Program or Individual/Organizational Membership); $150 for Non-ODVN Members. \nDeadline to register: May 27\, 2026 \nThis training is offered by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network. The work can be deeply rewarding\, but it can also leave lasting impressions from the tragedies we encounter. During this session\, we will discuss vicarious trauma\, secondary traumatic stress\, and practical resilience tools. Attendees will learn how we absorb information daily through our work and how to be proactive in caring for ourselves by using resilience strategies. Working in this field can contribute to high‑risk behaviors\, but understanding how to address work‑related trauma can help prevent long‑term negative effects.
