DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network: \nODVN’s fall Youth Advocacy Caucus meeting will feature a discussion on Human Trafficking 101\, equipping advocates with a foundational understanding of the risks and dangers of youth and teen trafficking. Advocates and allied professionals will explore how traffickers target and exploit young people through social media\, online gaming\, romantic relationships\, promises of belonging\, financial need\, unstable housing\, and other vulnerabilities. \nODVN’s Youth Advocacy Caucus Meetings are free and open to everyone.  \nRegistration ends October 29th. \nThis event is offered by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network. SUMMARY:ODVN - Tuesday@2: Support Services and Strategies for Parents with Children
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network: \nNovember’s Tuesday@2 will begin with a reading of a children’s book on how trauma impacts a child’s journey. Being able to describe a basic understanding of domestic violence and its impact will aid advocates in supporting parents seeking services at a domestic violence agency. Advocates must be prepared and confident in conversations with parents of intimate partner violence and when supporting them in the complexity of parenting children who endured witnessing coercive control by another caregiver. \nParticipants will gain a foundational understanding of how domestic violence and the abusive partner undermines the role of the safe parent. This knowledge will strengthen advocacy and support parents and children seeking services at domestic violence programs. Allying with the parent and child is the best practice that promotes safety and trust. Participants will review five strategies to enhance their communication\, empathy\, and advocacy skill set. \nCost: Free \nRegistration ends November 12th. \nThis event is offered by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network. SUMMARY:ODVN - Advocacy Skills Workshop: Understanding the Neurobiology of Vicarious Trauma and Setting Healthy Boundaries in Trauma-Exposed Work
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network: \nThis two-hour workshop is designed to empower victim advocates with a basic understanding of the neurobiology of vicarious trauma or secondary traumatic stress. Opportunities for reflection and group discussion will guide this exploration of approaches to managing and reducing the impact of vicarious trauma. Participants will examine and choose boundaries to incorporate into their work. \n*This workshop will require that advocates have cameras on and participate in the role plays during breakout groups to create an effective learning space for everyone attending.    \nCost: Free for ODVN members; $20 for non-members \nRegistration ends November 12th. \nThis training is offered by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network.
