DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network: \nNovember’s Tuesday@2 will begin with a reading of a children’s book on how trauma impacts a child’s journey. Being able to describe a basic understanding of domestic violence and its impact will aid advocates in supporting parents seeking services at a domestic violence agency. Advocates must be prepared and confident in conversations with parents of intimate partner violence and when supporting them in the complexity of parenting children who endured witnessing coercive control by another caregiver. \nParticipants will gain a foundational understanding of how domestic violence and the abusive partner undermines the role of the safe parent. This knowledge will strengthen advocacy and support parents and children seeking services at domestic violence programs. Allying with the parent and child is the best practice that promotes safety and trust.
