SUMMARY:ODVN - Meeting Survivors at the Intersections of Domestic Violence & Human Trafficking
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network\nThis presentation is designed to equip victim advocates with a deeper understanding of the critical overlap between domestic violence and human trafficking. Although often categorized separately\, these forms of abuse frequently coexist\, creating complex safety and support needs for survivors. We will explore how traffickers leverage tactics commonly seen in intimate partner violence—such as isolation\, economic control\, emotional manipulation\, and threats—to recruit\, maintain control\, and prevent disclosure. Advocates will learn practical strategies for recognizing crossover red flags\, conducting trauma-informed screenings\, and responding safely when trafficking may be present in a domestic violence case. The session also addresses barriers that prevent survivors from seeking help\, including fear of retaliation\, legal concerns\, system mistrust\, and cultural dynamics. Participants will leave with tools to strengthen coordinated community responses\, enhance survivor autonomy\, and provide holistic\, empowerment-based support for individuals experiencing both domestic violence and human trafficking. \nCost: Free for members (DV member program\, Organizational\, Individual); $20 for non-members \nRegistration ends January 16th \nThis training is offered by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network. Please contact ODVN at training@odvn.org with any questions. \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:ODVN - Supporting Safety\, Agency\, and Justice for Victims of Image-Based Sexual Abuse and AI-Generated Abuse Material
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network\nWhile the advances and mainstream use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into every day life may be new\, the use of technology to abuse and cause harm is not. This training will examine how AI-generated abuse material and image-based sexual abuse are increasingly weaponized within patterns of domestic and sexual violence. Participants will explore the impacts these abusive tactics have on survivors\, as well as the unique challenges they present in the sexual and domestic violence advocacy field. Participants will learn practical skills for integrating technology considerations into survivor-centered safety planning. The session will also explore systems-level and policy advocacy efforts aimed at strengthening protections and accountability for abusive uses of AI and image-based sexual abuse material. Finally\, the training will offer examples of how technology—including AI—can be leveraged in positive\, empowering ways to support survivor safety and well-being. \nCost: Free for members (DV member program\, Organizational\, Individual); $25 for non-members \nRegistration ends January 23rd \nThis training is offered by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network. Please contact ODVN at training@odvn.org with any questions. \n \n
