Although often categorized separately\, these forms of abuse frequently coexist\, creating complex safety and support needs for survivors. We will explore how traffickers leverage tactics commonly seen in intimate partner violence—such as isolation\, economic control\, emotional manipulation\, and threats—to recruit\, maintain control\, and prevent disclosure. Advocates will learn practical strategies for recognizing crossover red flags\, conducting trauma-informed screenings\, and responding safely when trafficking may be present in a domestic violence case. The session also addresses barriers that prevent survivors from seeking help\, including fear of retaliation\, legal concerns\, system mistrust\, and cultural dynamics.
