DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office: \n10th Annual Responding to the Needs of Victims Conference \nPractical Guidance on Marsy’s Law\, featuring Nationally Recognized Expert\, Attorney Elizabeth Well\, OCVJC \nThe passage of Marsy’s Law and subsequent implementing legislation (House Bill 343) increased the number of crime victims who have constitutional rights in the justice system. Marsy’s Law instituted additional mandates on many systems professionals\, including but not limited to law enforcement\, courts\, probation\, parole\, and prosecutors. DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Ohio Domestic Violence Network: \nStep away from your daily responsibilities in offices\, courts\, and shelters to spend a restorative day immersed in nature at Highbanks Metro Park. This year’s event is designed as a healing space to reconnect\, reflect\, and renew through laughter\, movement\, conversation\, and hope. Together\, we’ll explore the profound effects of vicarious trauma\, a shared experience for many advocates and professionals working with trauma survivors. You’ll participate in meaningful discussions around the emotional labor of “holding space” for trauma survivors and how the body absorbs and stores this impact. You’ll leave with practical\, body-centered strategies to support self-care\, resilience\, and sustained empathy in your role as a healing presence for others. \nFacilitated by Wendy Ricks-Hoff (OVWA) and Sonia Ferencik (ODVN)\, we will focus on understanding how vicarious trauma shows up in our bodies and minds by engaging in activities that help recognize\, release\, and regulate stress and secondary trauma. Activities will include breakout groups\, ranging from drumming\, a walk in nature\, rock painting\, stillness\, and Tapping (EFT). The afternoon invites you into restorative movement led by Michele Winship\, an experienced yoga practitioner. Whether seated in a chair or on a mat\, you’ll explore gentle yoga\, somatic breathwork\, and playful movement practices. These techniques are designed to support your nervous system\, promote self-awareness\, cultivate emotional regulation\, and enhance overall well-being. DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Ohio Domestic Violence Network: \nA national survey from the Bureau of Justice Statistics reports that nearly a quarter (24 percent) of domestic violence survivors are male (National Crime Victimization Survey\, 2014). However\, the image of a domestic violence survivor is typically that of a girl or woman. Stereotyped depictions and language about domestic violence can make male survivors feel left out\, unsupported\, and disbelieved when they share their experiences. In this training\, participants will explore statistics about the impacts of domestic violence on men\, including barriers to services and the ways that gender norms can impact access and service delivery. This virtual training covers innovative approaches such as DV Housing First\, rapid rehousing (RRH)\, flexible funding\, direct cash assistance\, affordable housing development\, and landlord engagement. Participants will learn how these interventions support survivors in maintaining or obtaining safe\, stable housing and promote healing through trauma-informed practices. \nRegistration ends July 3rd.  \nCost: Free for members; $50 for non-members \nThis training is offered by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network.
