DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network\nUnderstanding the impact of trauma on victims is essential for professionals working in domestic violence\, sexual assault\, or human trafficking agencies. Equally important is possessing core attending skills to establish a meaningful connection with survivors. Building rapport involves using skills such as active listening\, empathy\, and trauma-informed communication to foster trust and provide support. Advocates can further strengthen trust by recognizing and addressing potential barriers to communication. \nJoin ODVN for our quarterly Advocacy Skills Workshop\, which features two-hour sessions designed to refresh existing skills or introduce new ones\, enhancing your confidence and effectiveness in working with survivors. \nCost: Free with a DV program\, organizational\, or individual membership. $20 for non-members. \nRegistration ends January 13th  \nThis training is offered by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network. DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Ohio Crime Victim Justice Center: \nOCVJC offers free cross-disciplinary victims’ rights training via live interactive webinars. These trainings focus on new rights under House Bill 343 and Senate Bill 16\, which became effective in 2023\, as well as recent case law\, and serve to provide the education and tools necessary to help protect victims’ rights at each stage of the criminal justice process and provide guidance on when to refer crime victims to Ohio Crime Victim Justice Center to request free legal assistance. \nThis training is offered by the Ohio Crime Victim Justice Center. DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence:\nThis training program teaches survivors and community advocates practical communication skills for media engagement and public speaking. Using trauma-informed approaches\, participants learn to engage strategically while protecting their well-being and creating meaningful change. \nDelivered in three 90-minute virtual sessions delivered over three weeks. Due to the limited capacity of this training series and the cumulative nature of the content\, registrants are asked to commit to attending all three training sessions.
