OAESV – Excellence in Legal Advocacy 2026: Supporting Survivors of Image-Based Abuse

Hosted by the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence:
Excellence in Legal Advocacy 2026: Supporting Survivors of Image-Based Abuse
Virtual on 11/9 and 11/10 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm
When someone’s most intimate images are weaponized against them (images either created and shared consensually or generated by a bot from the manosphere) feelings of hopelessness and shame can quickly lead to isolation and despair, economic and reputational harm, and even suicide. What can we do as attorneys and advocates to confront and fight this surge in victimization?
This two-day training will explore the ways perpetrators are using tech in the worst ways possible, including non-consensual disclosure of intimate images, sextortion, deepfake porn, and more. Presenters will also highlight the important policy initiatives combatting these trends, as well as the legal pathways available to survivors to hold offenders accountable. Presenters will also dive into the tools & resources designed to protect privacy and reclaim autonomy.
Agenda:
Day 1: Attorney Caitlyn Benzo, OAESV Legal Clinic & Do It For James Foundation
Day 2: Bethany Toth, Fairview Police Dept. & Emily Fagan-Zirm, Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children
Free and open to all.
