ODVN – Felonious Strangulation & Advocacy

March 20, 2025 @ 1:00 pm4:00 pm
Hosted by Ohio Domestic Violence Network:

Felonious Strangulation and Advocacy

In 2023, legislation went into effect that made non-fatal strangulation a felony in Ohio. This change in Ohio law was a product of years of advocacy efforts, as well as highlighted the widespread impacts of strangulation on domestic violence survivors. This training will explore the topics of brain injury, strangulation, and the new felony legislation in Ohio. The presenters will address the implications of this law for survivors, advocates, and other allied professionals working with survivors. Participants will learn ways to navigate and provide accommodations for survivor support and advocacy through a trauma and brain injury informed lens.

This training is appropriate for new and seasoned advocates.

Cost: Free for ODVN Members (ODVN Member Program or Individual/Organizational Membership); $25 for Non-ODVN Members.

Deadline to register: March 14, 2025

This training is offered by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network. Please contact ODVN at training@odvn.org with any questions.
