ODVN – Housing Advocacy with Domestic Violence Survivors
| Hosted by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network:
Housing Advocacy with Domestic Violence Survivors |
| Domestic violence survivors can face significant challenges in securing stable, independent housing, and this challenge is made significantly harder by the current lack of affordable housing available. Advocates hold an important role in driving change, not just on an individual level, but also on a larger scale to promote equitable access to these resources.
Join ODVN and the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio (COHHIO) to gain strategies to advocate alongside survivors in the current housing crisis. In this virtual training, COHHIO presenters will discuss trauma-informed approaches when working with domestic violence survivors seeking housing. ODVN staff will explore effective strategies for advocating for survivors with complex rental histories. Participants will learn about legal protections offered by the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), as well as federal resources to increase survivors’ access to legal and social services. |
| Presenters: Aubre Jones, Director of Training and Equitable Practice, COHHIO; Damon Krane, Housing Information Coordinator, COHHIO; Takara Sanders, REACH Program Manager, ODVN
Cost: Free for ODVN Members (ODVN Member Program or Individual/Organizational Membership); $25 for Non-ODVN Members. Deadline to register: July 18, 2024 This training is offered by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network. Please contact ODVN at training@odvn.org with any questions. |
