ODVN – Invisible Injuries: Traumatic Brain Injury, Strangulation and Domestic Violence

Hosted by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network
Domestic violence often involves blows to the head, neck, or face and strangulation—yet the resulting brain injuries are still frequently overlooked and untreated. This leads to significant gaps: survivors may struggle with unrecognized injuries, professionals may miss opportunities to offer effective support, and systems may not account for the impact of trauma and domestic violence. This webinar will share findings from Ohio’s groundbreaking research on partner-inflicted brain injury, including data from domestic violence programs and police calls. We will define partner-inflicted brain injury, review the realities of concussion and strangulation, outline common signs and symptoms, and introduce CARE (Connect, Acknowledge, Respond, Evaluate), an evidence-based framework for supporting survivors.
Cost: Free for all
