December 4, 2024 @ 9:00 amDecember 5, 2024 @ 4:00 pm

Hosted by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network:

Justice Systems Advocacy

This virtual, two-day training focuses on working within the civil and criminal justice systems in partnership with survivors of domestic violence. Experts with extensive experience will provide information about the realities of navigating the court system for victims of domestic violence. The training focuses on the civil legal system and remedies developed for victims, including extensive learning and discussing civil protection orders.

Other topics include Ohio domestic violence criminal law, how the criminal system and process work, and what protections are available to survivors. You will learn practical ways to advocate for victims involved with the criminal justice system and work with survivors who are charged with crimes. This training provides an understanding of the implications of having both a criminal and civil domestic violence case through the court system. Participants who take this training will be required to complete a pre-learning course in order to attend. Information will be sent to registrants within one month of the training.

This training is designed for both new and seasoned advocates.

Cost: Free for ODVN Members (ODVN Member Program or Individual/Organizational Membership); $100 for Non-ODVN Members.

Deadline to register: November 28, 2024
