ODVN – Justice Systems Advocacy

Hosted by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network
Join ODVN’s Legal and Training Team for the foundational training for legal advocacy. This two-day training focuses on working within the civil and criminal justice systems in partnership with survivors of domestic violence. Experts with extensive experience will provide information about the realities of navigating the court system for victims of domestic violence. The training focuses on the civil legal system and remedies developed for victims, including extensive learning and discussing civil protection orders. Other topics include Ohio domestic violence criminal law, how the criminal system and process work, and what protections are available to survivors. Attendees will learn practical ways to advocate for victims involved with the criminal justice system and work with survivors who are charged with crimes. This training provides an understanding of the implications of having both a criminal and civil domestic violence case through the court system.
Participants are required to attend both days of training in order to receive a certificate.
Cost: Free for ODVN Members (ODVN Member Program or Individual/Organizational Membership); $100 for Non-ODVN Members.
Registration ends on December 4th.
This training is offered by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network. Please contact ODVN at training@odvn.org with any questions.
