ODVN – Navigating the Ethical Challenges of Domestic Violence Advocacy

Hosted by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network
Ethical advocacy can be viewed as operating within a framework that supports clients and survivors in an ethical manner in an effort to provide empowerment, autonomy, self-determination, and choice. If you are not otherwise licensed as a social worker or counselor through the State of Ohio CSWMFT board, you may be familiar with the NOVA Code of Ethics, which is the code of ethics adopted by both the National Advocate Credentialing Program (NACP) and the Ohio Advocate Network (OAN). This highly interactive training will provide an overview of the NOVA Code of Ethics, with an emphasis on boundaries and dual relationships, ethics in organizational collaboration and special considerations for ethical advocacy within the criminal justice system. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask specific questions or present unique circumstances in a confidential manner prior to the presentation for inclusion in the training, as well as the opportunity to interact and discuss ethical dilemmas throughout the presentation.
Cost: Free for members (DV member program, Organizational, Individual); $25 for non-members
Registration ends December 3rd.
This training is offered by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network. Please contact ODVN at training@odvn.org with any questions.
