Hosted by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network:

Supporting Survivors: Responding to Barriers to Inclusive and Equitable Service Delivery

Domestic violence victims from underserved and oppressed communities often face complex barriers when navigating systems and services. The legal and criminal justice system is no exception. Unfortunately, the legal obstacles faced by these victims can leave them feeling overwhelmed, unheard, and unable to access the same support provided to privileged communities. In this training, participants will hear from experts in the field on best practices for allying with victims from underserved communities to provide support through the legal and criminal justice systems. Expert presenters and a diverse panel of victim advocacy professionals will provide crucial information on the legal rights of domestic violence victims, culturally responsive practices, and strategies to engage victims from Amish/Plain, LBGTQIA, Hispanic, Black/Brown, Immigrant, and rural communities.

This in-person training is designed for attorneys, victim advocates, and other domestic violence professionals. Registration will be open for the first 100 registrants.

Presenters: Alexandria Ruden, Esq., Supervising Attorney, Cleveland Legal Aid Society; Jocelyn Armstrong, Esq., Director of Inclusion and Outreach, Ohio State Bar Association.
