ODVN – Supporting Trans Survivors & Understanding the Dynamics of Abuse for LGBTQIA+ Survivors

Hosted by Ohio Domestic Violence Network:
This training will discuss aspects of LGBTQIA+ centered survivor advocacy, with special considerations for supporting trans survivors. Participants will understand how to address specific needs of transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary survivors in safety planning and survivor services, as well as how to address needs of other members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Participants will also learn basic LGBTQIA+ terms and terminology to support their communication and cultural competency with survivors from this community. The presenters are Advocates Miranda James and LaDawn Penn with the Buckeye Regional Anti-Violence Organization (BRAVO, a program of Equitas Health). BRAVO provides comprehensive individual and community programs for survivor advocacy and support to LGBTQIA+ survivors of hate and bias violence, discrimination, intimate partner violence, stalking and/or sexual assault.
Registration ends June 12th.
Cost: Free with a DV program, organizational, or individual membership. $25 for non-members.
