OVWA Quarterly Member Training: Trauma, ACES, PACES, & the Resiliency of Survivors
January 16, 2025 @ 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm
As service providers, how can we center the strengths of youth and adult survivors, while also validating their lived experiences of trauma and adversity? Join us as we take a deeper dive into trauma and resiliency. We will hear how PACES (Positive and Adverse Childhood Experiences) research has guided programs and communities to change their service design for better outcomes by recognizing the whole journey of an individual. Attendees will learn how the groundbreaking research that led to the ACES questionnaire changed the landscape of our understanding of trauma and discuss how incorporating the newer research findings of PACES can influence trauma-responsive advocacy skills. Finally, we will examine how to create necessary changes that enhance interactions with survivors through the creation of policies and procedures, staff training, direct service, and resources and referrals.
Presenter(s): Sonia Ferencik, Youth and Trauma Services Manager, ODVN; Wendy Ricks-Hoff, Program Director, OVWA
