Join us to learn about special considerations in working with elder victims of crime, particularly concerning the unique aspects of sexual abuse and domestic violence in later life. Older victims of crime may have multiple barriers to seeking and receiving justice, including isolation and the vulnerabilities that occur with changing self-sufficiency and mobility. Attendees will understand common characteristics of elder abuse, self-neglect, and exploitation, as well as the differences and similarities of capacity, competency, and legal surrogates.
Presenter(s): April Wehrle, Senior Elder Services Coordinator, Elder Justice Unit – Crime Victims Section, Office of Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost; Nancy Radcliffe, Social Science Research Specialist, Office of Criminal Justice Services, Ohio Department of Public Safety
