  • Public Policy Committee– This committee monitors existing and pending matters of public policy which may impact the rights and services of victims and witnesses of crime. The committee assists in shaping OVWA’s response by recommending action to the Board of Directors and OVWA membership. The committee educates policymakers on how their decisions will impact victims served by OVWA membership. This committee meets bimonthly or as needed. Committee orientation includes an outline of the legislative process.
  • Training and Technical Assistance Committee – This committee, in partnership with OVWA staff, assists in the selection, development, and coordination of continuing education training events and initiatives relevant to the profession of crime victim advocacy, evaluating training content and identifying qualified presenters that meet criteria for credentialing through the Ohio Advocate Network. Responsibilities include promoting regional, statewide, and national training opportunities with an emphasis on best-practice approach. This committee assists in the development of quality standards of practice for victim advocacy professionals. The committee meets at least two to three times per year, or as needed.
  • Fundraising Committee – This committee consists of OVWA staff, Board members, and others interested in ensuring the fiscal sustainability and growth of OVWA. Committee members work together to pursue development and fundraising opportunities; help with OVWA events like the VIVA Awards; and brainstorm creative solutions to secure funds for OVWA and OVWA member agencies. Committee members grow their skills in fundraising, grant writing, donor relations, sponsorship asks, and more.
