Since 1999, the OVWA Past Presidents’ Committee has recognized individuals who exemplify exceptional leadership in victim assistance through the Marlene Young Outstanding Leadership Award.
The OVWA Past Presidents’ Committee is honored to recognize 2024’s recipient: Michael Sheline, Section Chief for Crime Victims at the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.
Michael’s dedication, vision, and advocacy have strengthened victim services across Ohio and beyond. His leadership has advanced programs, supported organizations, and inspired systemic change that benefits survivors and their families.

- Over a decade of managing substantial grant funding to support victims of violent crimes.
- Strategic leadership in criminal justice, public policy, and nonprofit management.
- Currently pursuing a Doctor of Education degree, underscoring his commitment to education and leadership development.
- Guided and supported statewide initiatives, including the Basic Advocacy Skills in Crime Victim Services (BASICS) training, NOVA’s Crisis Response Team training, and the annual Two Days in May Victim Assistance Conference.
