Ohio Attorney General – Two Days in May

2024 Two Days in May Conference

This annual gathering brings together advocates and others from across disciplines to focus on best practices, explore trends, study developments and changes within the field, learn about legislative updates, and network.

This year’s conference, themed “Healing Begins With Hope”, takes place at a new site: the Hilton Columbus Downtown, 402 N. High St.

The event includes:

–An opening session with remarks from Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, followed by a keynote address by Kellie Portman, senior program training manager at the National Organization for Victim Advocacy, where she focuses on crisis response.

–A second-day plenary session featuring a panel of survivors and experts from across disciplines. The group will talk about how dedication, collaboration, advanced technology, and a commitment to seeing justice served brought answers to a tragic and complicated cold case of homicide and rape.

–The choice of five workshops (from among 31 total). The topics range from self-care and legislative updates to an analysis of how social media has dramatically changed the impact of a crime on survivors and how advocates can best help and adjust to that. (Approval for CLEs/CEUs is pending.)

–A continental breakfast on Monday; coffee/tea service and a catered awards luncheon in the Aminah Robinson Grand Ballroom on Tuesday; access to information from vendors and nonprofit organizations; and drop-in sessions both days with staff from the VOCA/SVAA Grants Unit and the Ohio Crime Victims Compensation Program.
