OVWA Webinar Wednesday: Canine Comfort in Victim Advocacy and Crisis Response

March 13, 2024 @ 3:00 pm4:30 pm

Please join Jeannette Adkins, Retired, Michael’s House CAC Director, OCRT Co-Coordinator, Laura Romans and Ottimo, CCI facility dog, to learn about the benefits, comfort, and assistance dogs provide to victims of crime. The use of canines or facility dogs in victim assistance is becoming more commonplace today and is a valuable tool for advocates in their daily work. Facility dogs are now used in courtrooms, child advocacy centers, and in victim assistance programs around the country. This workshop will focus on the how-to’s in obtaining a facility dog–resources, permission, application process, and use of a facility dog in the advocate’s everyday practice. We will also discuss the use of these phenomenal dogs in community crisis response after mass violence incidents. If you require accommodations to attend this training, please email info@ovwa.org no later than one week prior to the webinar date. This training is preapproved for CEU’s from OAN, NACP, and the State of Ohio CSWMFT Board….
