OVWA Webinar Wednesday: Trauma-Informed Safety Planning and Lethality Assessments – How to Quickly and Effectively Assist Domestic Violence Survivors in Assessing Personal Safety
October 23, 2024 @ 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Please join OVWA and Alicia Williamson, MSW, LSW, Assistant Deputy Director with the Ohio Domestic Violence Network, to discuss essential trauma-informed safety planning skills and the use of lethality assessments for domestic violence survivors. Advocates working within systems are often providing emergency services to victims of domestic violence and, while obtaining safety measures through the criminal justice system can be a necessity, effective safety planning involves safety in all situations while not relying on an offender’s adherence to court orders. Attendees will learn how to quickly and effectively help a survivor assess their physical and emotional safety and develop preparation and planning for potential escalations of violence. There has been much discussion in the utilization and development of lethality assessments as a tool for safety awareness and planning, and attendees will learn considerations for administering lethality assessments both within and outside of the criminal justice system.
If you require accommodations to attend this training please email us at info@ovwa.org no later than one week prior to the training.
This training is preapproved for CEU’s from OAN, NACP, and the State of Ohio CSWMFT Board….
